Introduction to the MIND Diet.
As a person ages, the risk of dementia and loss of brain function grows, the MIND diet was developed by focusing on foods that can help to reduce the risk of cognitive decline by focusing a person's eating habits on foods that complement a healthy brain.
What is the MIND Diet?
Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay.
The MIND diet was developed by combining healthy parts of both the DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) diet and Mediterranean Diet.
The focus of the MIND diet is to reduce the risk of dementia and the decline of brain health, whilst boosting overall cognitive function by focusing on the consumption of foods that are shown to benefit brain health.
The MIND diet encourages its followers to eat plenty of fresh fruit, specifically berries in addition to a range of other brain healthy food products while avoiding a set of foods that may be linked to adverse effects on an individualâs cognitive function as they grow older.
